Working Out At Home

Posted by Bernie Maroto on

Working out at home is one of the fastest growing training and fitness trends in the United States. A great home gym can be equipped with widely varied and intensive conditioning equipment that provide a quality and comprehensive workout. You can easily work out at home since it uses versatile and flexible equipment. The following is a close look at the best equipment for working out at home.

Bumper plates

You will need a quality set of bumpers if you are planning to be working in a garage gym. They are the better than iron plates unless you are aspiring to become a power-lifter. You can try to use metal plates although you will have to avoid dropping them since they can chip the concrete floor of your gym or destroy its rubber matting. Alternatively, you can use rubber bumpers which you can comfortably drop without damaging the floor. A quality rubber bumper should bounce, but not very much for easier control.

Olympic barbell

You don’t have to get the most expensive Olympic barrel in the market, but it is wise to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. A cheap barbell may not last that long and it can easily bend after dropping from head high even with 150 lbs. You will have to choose whether you want a barbell with or without a center knurl. However, you should avoid pin barbells or barbells that have a bolt in the end since they can easily cut you up during jerks and high rep clean.

Gymnastic rings

They are ideal for upper body strength. There are various types of gymnastic rings including ring rows, ring dips, front levers and rings for muscle ups among other movements. They can be made of wood, metal or plastic depending on your preference. There is no reason why you should not own some rings considering that they are among the most affordable home equipment items.

It is clear that there is much you can do to get started with a home gym. The above equipment items are quite affordable and they don’t require a lot of space. It is also advantageous to work out at home, especially if you have a tight schedule or limited money for the regular trips to the gym. So, be sure to consider the above gym items when considering working out at home and for sure, you will be assured of a better working out experience.
